Animal Medical Care Foundation : In veel landen staat dierenwelzijn op een laag pitje. Vrijwilligers doen hun uiterste best om met vaak minimale middelen (soms zonder stromend water of electriciteit) de dieren te helpen. Steun van gemeente of overheid is ver te zoeken en men is grotendeels of soms volledig afhankelijk van giften. Het is niet moeilijk voor te stellen dat er dan nauwelijks geld is voor voedsel laat staan voor medische verzorging. Speelgoed is iets waar helemaal geen geld voor is en juist dit kan net een stukje plezier in het leven van een asiel hond of kat (of knaagdier) brengen. De Animal Medical Care Foundation heeft dierenwelzijn hoog in het vaandel, daarom willen wij helpen daar waar nodig is en waar behoefte aan is. Elk opvangcentra kan een lijst opgeven wat men nodig heeft, zo kunnen wij de donaties goed verdelen. Zo krijgt iedereen wat nodig is en voor de sponsors en donateurs is het goed om te zien dat hun donatie ook echt benut wordt.

Emergency appeal for Pirate

Pirate (de hond met de zwarte vlek) werd gevonden met een voorpoot met vele breuken, de poot moest geamputeerd worden want deze was onherstelbaar beschadigd en zij had veel pijn. Tony Waters "De Dogfather" was in paniek want hij had geen geld voor de operatie, alleen met donaties zorgt hij voor 150 honden en katten. De AMCF heeft toen de operatie voor Pirate betaald.

June 2008, Tony Waters, The Dogfather, Bahrein : "A very kind lady brought in a beautiful white and black dog to my refuge. She has a very badly smashed leg, but is otherwise healthy. I have named her Pirate because of the broken leg and the black patch she has over her eye! She is a very calm and gentle dog and wags her tail all the time. Unfortunately, the damage to Pirate’s leg is too extensive and she will need to have her leg amputated. This will cost approximately BD170. Pirate's operation is scheduled for 26 July 2008. I do not have the funds to cover this cost: My refuge is full to bursting with abandoned animals which need my care. The lady who left her with me is very upset that she is unable to take Pirate as she is leaving Bahrain for good this week and already has a number of animals she is shipping to England. If 10 people would kindly donated BD20 this would cover the cost of the operation and her food for a month and Pirate will live to hunt the high (desert) seas again! Please take your donation, however large or small, to Nonie Coutts Surgery either in Manama or Saar, where an account has been opened in her name."

July 2008: Things are pretty crazy here at the moment as it is holiday time and I am full to bursting with rescue animals. Numerous cats and dogs get abandoned in the desert during the summer months - it's 47 degrees today! I am the port of last resort as the Bahrain Society for Protection of Animals is full. At the last count I have 150 cats, dogs and birds to care for. I have two full time helpers who I also have to support. I've lost count the number of animals I've rehabilitated and rehomed in the last 3 years, probably 300 or more. My biggest problem is feeding all these animals. I receive a few donations of food every month from well wishers but rely on dog and cat grooming fees and boarding a small number of animals to make up the difference. This is generally insufficient particularly as I have to deal with sick and injured animals as well which require medical attention.
