. Egypte - Cairo - SPARE . Animal Medical Care Foundation : In veel landen staat dierenwelzijn op een laag pitje. Vrijwilligers doen hun uiterste best om met vaak minimale middelen (soms zonder stromend water of electriciteit) de dieren te helpen. Steun van gemeente of overheid is ver te zoeken en men is grotendeels of soms volledig afhankelijk van giften. Het is niet moeilijk voor te stellen dat er dan nauwelijks geld is voor voedsel laat staan voor medische verzorging. Speelgoed is iets waar helemaal geen geld voor is en juist dit kan net een stukje plezier in het leven van een asiel hond of kat (of knaagdier) brengen. De Animal Medical Care Foundation heeft dierenwelzijn hoog in het vaandel, daarom willen wij helpen daar waar nodig is en waar behoefte aan is. Elk opvangcentra kan een lijst opgeven wat men nodig heeft, zo kunnen wij de donaties goed verdelen. Zo krijgt iedereen wat nodig is en voor de sponsors en donateurs is het goed om te zien dat hun donatie ook echt benut wordt.

Society of Protecting Animal Rights in Egypt: For the creatures of this world who cannot say when it hurts, when they are scared, for those who cannot look after themselves and cannot defend themselves. SPARE a thought for those animals who are abused, tortured and mishandled daily out of ignorance, poverty and often for amusement’s sake. SPARE is an organization which has been formed to cope with the wounded animals, poisoned dogs and cats and those that have been shot by the authorities as part of a seasonal eradication program.

. the amazing transformation of DORIS .      . Doris is one of the recent amazing cases. She was abandoned at SPARE with terrible lacerations on her back and virtually no fur on her skinny little body. The picture below in on her first day. The blue tinted medication on her back is a topical antibiotic covering her wounds. Months later, after intensive care and lots of loving attention, Doris is a completely different dog. Yes, the picture below is the same dog who arrived at the shelter on the verge of death. The deep wound along her spine still requires treatment, but today Doris is a happy and playful dog. Saving dogs like Doris requires extensive resources. We will never refuse a dog like Doris, and will do all that we can to treat an animal who has a chance at life. But we depend on your donations to purchase the medicine, pay our veterinarians, and keep our doors open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for animals in need. . Please help SPARE help the next Doris, because the unfortunate reality is that tomorrow there will be another desperate case, and a new one the next day ! .

. the amazing transformation of AZHAR . Our shelter for cats and dogs is one of the main functions of SPARE. We accept animals in need due to injury, abandonment, or other emergencies. All new arrivals have a thorough medical exam, and are vaccinated for rabies. After a quarantine period, in which we assess any special needs or particular illnesses, the animal is available for adoption. Amazing transformations take place at the Shelter. Our vets have treated all kinds of animals in urgent need, and through care and dedication to rehabilitation, we give animals a new chance at life. Azhar before      Azhar After      This is the beautiful Azhar. Azhar means flowers in Arabic, as she has blossomed into a beautiful dog after being treated from her terrible mange.  Just look at her before and after pics! She was brought into the shelter by one of SPARE's dear friends, Mr Hazem Metwally, who spotted her in Beni Youssef (Giza area). He quickly called SPARE and we were quick to respond, sending off our catchers Hazem and Yasser (pictured above) to bring her in for treatment. They was utterly heartbroken from her condition. They had a hard time finding her but finally after an exhausting search Hazem and Yasser found her and brought her back to the shelter. She has undergone intense treatment, with ESMA vet Dr. Mostafa. She has now blossomed into the beautiful flower she deserves to be and will hopefully be adopted to a loving home.
